OWNER FAQS ON RESOLUTION WITH STATE OF CALIFORNIA

We anticipate that you may have questions about the recent resolution announced between Welk Resorts and the State of California. The following information is intended to help

Are my Welk Resorts' vacation plans secure?

The resolution does not impact our day-to-day operations or your vacation reservation and plans. The quality vacation experiences you expect from Welk Resorts are unaffected, and your rights as a Welk Resorts vacation Owner have not changed

How do I know if I'm included in this resolution?

Owners who purchased between January 2011 and March 2016, and who qualify to participate in the resolution, will receive written notifications from a third-party administrator outlining their options. We expect the notification process to start later this year.

How does this affect my Ownership? Do I still need to make maintenance fee payments?

If you are an Owner who purchased during the period, and you qualify, you will be notified of your options, which will include several choices. In the meantime, your rights and obligations as an Owner have not changed, including your annual maintenance fee payment.

If I am an Owner who purchased during the period, what should I do?

We are just at the beginning of this process and recommend the following:
 

PHASE 1: Informational Stage

Step 1: Review the information on this webpage for answers to basic questions.

Step 2: If you are eligible, watch for a written communication with your options via U.S. Mail or email.

PHASE 2: Action Stage

Step 1: Evaluate the options presented in the notice and choose the one that is best for you and your family.

Step 2: Submit your choice to http://www.WelkRestitution.com/ by the deadline indicated.

Step 3: Await confirmation from the third-party administrator for more details once the response period has closed.

 

What other action has Welk Resorts taken on this issue?

Welk Resorts took immediate corrective action when first alerted to these issues nearly five years ago. Today, we are happy to have reached agreement on a resolution with the state of California and to have built one of the strongest and most transparent sales compliance programs in the timeshare industry.

From the time we were made aware of these issues in mid-2015, we worked proactively, and successfully, to resolve many related customer complaints directly through our own outreach and resolution efforts. We also worked diligently to transform and improve our sales compliance, quality assurance and customer service processes, which has reduced complaints while also helping us more quickly troubleshoot and resolve the small number of transactions where an issue has been demonstrated.

We are a family- and employee-owned business that has been led by three generations of the Welk family since 1964. Our employees work tirelessly to provide quality vacation experiences for our over 50,000 Owners.

We are at an exciting point in our 56-year history having grown to 10 vacation resorts. Welk Resorts acquired the El Corazon de Santa Fe vacation resort in New Mexico in January, constructed and opened a new resort in Breckenridge, Colo. in December, began a major multi-year renovation of our Palm Springs area resort last summer and celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Cabo San Lucas, Mexico property last year.
